Jack Russell Long was born July 19, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of James and Ena (Peterson) Long.  He passed from this life July 9, 2021 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 81.  Jack had lived in Georgetown since 1996, moving here for retirement to be closer to family.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri in 1962, followed by his Master’s Degree in 1965.  While at the University, he was a member of Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Pi.  Jack was a veteran of the United States Army.  His career as a Construction Engineer spanned over 50 years and took him to places all over the world, including South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia and many states across the US.  He enjoyed working, golf, travelling and spending time with his family.  Jack and JoLynn Alford were united in marriage on October 18, 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, James Long, Jr.  He is survived by his brother Jon O. Long, wife JoLynn Long; children, Travis Long, Jack R. Long, II and wife Kathy, Shannon L. Martin and husband Mitch; grandchildren, Parker Long, James Long, Cassidy Long, Mitchel Long, Lily Ann Long and Avery L. Martin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
